Having noticed tough economic conditions, which operators and self-employed drivers must face now, councils across the British capital have recently allowed for doubling the permitted loading time from twenty to forty minutes for vans and vehicles of over 3.5 tonnes. Thanks to this, decision both vans fleets and individuals can save up to thousands of pounds a year. Additionally, the Freight Transport Association, FTA in short, says that the councils are now considering extending this scheme so it may include all commercial vehicles and not only vans. Such step shall bring benefits further to fleets. The FTA has already seen a reduction in the number of Penalty Charge Notices – calls for paying parking tickets in other words – reaching some thirty percent. Vans and other commercial vehicles are used for the delivery of a wide range of goods and services to customers all across big cities.
